style=\"text-align: justify\">The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is an international body of the United Nations, responsible for the cooperation and promotion of an international intellectual property system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">WIPO offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/brand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trademark<\/a> database services, but more importantly:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><br \/><strong>A single portal designed to centralize the administrative procedures for filing, registering and managing international trademarks<\/strong><br \/><\/span>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This portal allows you to file a single trademark application with WIPO, pay a single set of fees and apply for protection in some or all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/export\/sites\/www\/treaties\/fr\/documents\/pdf\/madrid_marks.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Madrid Protocol territories<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This system avoids the need for a multitude of national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/trademark-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">filings <\/a>with different Offices abroad, whose practices and prices are very different from one another.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To date, 128 countries and regions have joined the Madrid Protocol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The operation is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The first step is to file a so-called &#8220;originating&#8221; trademark with a national or regional intellectual property office (for example, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/inpi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">INPI<\/a> for a French trademark or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/euipo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EUIPO<\/a> for a European Union trademark).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Second step: if you wish to extend your trademark abroad, apply for an international registration before WIPO after having selected, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/export\/sites\/www\/treaties\/fr\/documents\/pdf\/madrid_marks.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list of countries and regions adhering to the Madrid Protocol<\/a>, the member states relevant to the development and activity envisaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Step 3: WIPO will notify your application to each of the national and regional intellectual property offices you have chosen to designate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Fourth step: The national and regional intellectual property offices concerned will then decide on the merits of your trademark application, and will accept or refuse it according to the rules applicable in each of the territories concerned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">WIPO also offers a similar system for centralizing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/designs-and-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">design <\/a>filings<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/en\/designs-and-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Out-of-court procedures for domain name disputes<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These are the &#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/udrp-uniform-domain-name-dispute-resolution-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UDRP<\/a> &#8220;, which are governed by the UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) and cover disputes applicable to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinetbouchara.com\/en\/lexicon\/domain-name\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener average of two months) and economical procedures, entirely online.<\/p>\n<h2>Update on World Intellectual Property Day<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">WIPO has established World Intellectual Property Day, which is held annually on April 26.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This day is regularly the occasion for the organization of events around intellectual property, which thus aim
